Hamilton Fire Brigade is made up of a diverse group of members with a high degree of skill and ability which enhances our response to a wide range of incidents. The brigade has an active Social Club, Junior Brigade and takes great pride in our commitment to community safety initiatives. Our members are dedicated to gaining the skills required to keep our community safe and helping to promote a resilient community.
2020 saw the brigade celebrate 150 years of service to the community. We have a current membership of 66 members that fulfill a wide array of roles within the brigade.
Between the ages of 11 and 17, volunteers can join as a junior brigade member. Juniors learn valuable sportsmanship skills, teamwork and entry level knowledge into the firefighting world. Juniors also compete at a range of competitions around the state. It's a fantastic social outlet for all involved.
From the age of 16, volunteers can join as a brigade member, helping out with administration, community events, station maintenance, junior leadership and so much more!
A brigade member who completes the minimum requirement of 'General Firefighter (or previous equivalent)' and induction to be able to respond to incidents.
Structural Firefighter
A member who completes the minimum requirement of 'Low Structure', 'External Breathing Apparatus' and 'Respond to Urban' or previous equivalent)' to respond and deploy specialty structural equipment such as breathing apparatus (BA).
